Happy February!

In TA we are going to be focusing on our social, emotional learning. We will learn how to interpret different emotions on faces. As a group, we are going to read the following books plus many more: My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss, The Feelings Book by Todd Parr, and Glad Monster, Sad Monster by Ed Emberley and Anne Miranda. To reinforce our learning, we will sort different facial pictures with emotions. Then, we will talk about what each facial expression is. We will also focus on our own feelings and how it is okay to feel different emotions throughout our day. We will take the time to label the emotion and talk about what the emotion’s purpose is. We will also focus on what we can do with the emotion in positive way (calming themselves, hugging, breathing, sensory tub, paint, etc.).

The children in the class are always willing helpers. We are trying to assist the children to work together within their own individual capabilities in our classroom. Our goal is designating jobs to each child and rotating them each week. They will wear their ‘uniform’ or placard while they are fulfilling their duties. The positions are: Line Leader, Lunch Attendant, Cot Aid, Cubby Monitor, Weather Watcher, Large Group Apprentice, Cleanliness Helper, and Kindness Partner.
