Ms Amanda's Class - Toddler 2

Parents,

January was a fun month for us. During the month of January, we talked about the weather and how it has been changing. We talked about how cold it is, the snow, and how the trees are missing leaves. We like to look out the window and talk about what the weather is doing each day. Some words we are using to describe the weather are windy, rainy, cloudy, snowy, and sunny. They really enjoy getting to put on their “weatherman” hats and discuss the weather. I encourage you to talk about it at home, too.

We also started talking about our feelings and emotions this month and will continue talking about it into February. Right now, we are labeling emotions as they are happening. We also discuss what emotions the characters in our books are feeling. What does sad, mad, happy, scared, excited, etc., look like? What does it feel like? What can we do when we feel these emotions? It is important to give them this language early so that children can learn to identify their emotions and eventually learn how to handle them.

During the month of February, we will also be talking about love and friendship. We will discuss using kind hands and words with our friends and will even do a couple of art projects together. We will also be having a Valentine’s Day party on February 14th at 2:30. Please keep an eye out for a sign-up sheet for that.

We strongly encourage you to join us for our party if you are able. And as always, you are welcome to come visit our class during the day. Come read to us or just come and play. We love having parents visit!
