Ms Gabi & Ms Rebecca's Class - Infants 1
2021 is just around corner! Despite all the craziness that has happened this year, our Infant 1 class has accomplished so much, from getting new friends to the crawlers starting to run! In November, we did lots of gross and fine motor activities, explored different colored apples, and felt the different textures of Indian corn.
In December, we will be focusing more on language development through songs, books, conversations, and some simple signs. We will be reading lots of stories involving the wintertime and snow. Some books that you can get at the local library to read to your littles at home that we’ll be doing in class are The Snowy Day, Snow Rabbit, and Roll Over. Some activities you can do at home include making snow ice cream and snow gak.
Babies and young children's language development is strongly influenced by the language they hear spoken around them and to them. By age 3 to 4 months, babies will add more verbal sounds and start to make the consonant sounds of b, k, m, g, and p. By around age 4 months, babies will begin to put vowel sounds and consonant sounds together to form nonsense words such as "gaga" and "ahpoo" as they start to experiment with how sounds can be linked together.
As a reminder, we are asking all parents to bring some extra winter clothes for their little ones. Scarfs, mittens, and beanies would be perfect, too!
